Essentials You Need To Keep Your Child Safe From Mosquitoes

It’s rainy season once again! Kids are more prone to get sick due to the unpredictable weather. Recently, my son had a fever. Due to alarming cases of dengue fever and the deadly Japanese encephalitis, we immediately rushed him at the hospital’s Emergency Room just to make sure what he has. Thankfully, it was only a viral infection.

What is Japanese Encephalitis by the way?

Japanese Encephalitis is a mosquito- borne flavivirus and belongs to the same breed as dengue, yellow fever and West Nile viruses.

Symptoms usually include fever, headache, vomiting, confusion, neck stiffness, disorientation, difficulty moving, coma, seizures, spastic paralysis or muscle weakness and ultimately death.

Not only kids can get Japanese Encephalitis but also adults.

So here are my ways on how to keep kids safe from mosquito bites:

  1.  Have your child vaccinated for Japanese Encephalitis. Consult your doctor or pedia for more information.

  2. Put mosquito lotion like Off! for Kids as necessary. (recommended to re- apply every 3 hrs.)

  3. Use mosquito repellant patch like MoskiShield. It usually gives protection to your kids for up to 24 hours.

  1. To protect the face of your kids from mosquito bites, you can use anti- mosquito wipes by Pigeon that can give protection up to 6 hours. (For details including purchase, you can check their website )

  1. Always keep your house safe from mosquitoes by spraying Baygon (but make sure no one is inside the room) or if you want the natural way, you can try Insect Room Spray by Sesou Nature Source (mixed with citronella essential oil with lemongrass, etc.)

These are some of my suggestions but if you guys have some more ideas, don’t hesitate to share with all of us! =)

Thank you for dropping by!
