Home activities with Lucas

When we scouted out schools for Lucas, he attended some free trials and I was able to see how the teachers do their crafts. I thought of doing some similar activities at home with my son that would be worthwhile and at the same time makes him discover new things.

I created a lesson plan each week (we started discussing the letter A). I made sure that I mix it with interesting activities so that he won’t get bored, which I got ideas mostly from Pinterest. We also had ready activity books and spelling puzzles just in case I didn’t get the chance to prepare for our lessons.

We also like to sing nursery rhymes together (most of the time he corrects me in singing the right words) and he also enjoys when I ask him the first letter of some common words he’s familiar with and its sound (e.g. What’s the first letter of Alligator — A; what’s the sound of A —  a).

It’s very important for kids to know the sounds of each alphabet, that way it will be easier for them to learn how to spell. I make it a point to make learning fun for him!

Stay tuned for more activity lessons with Lucas =)
